In 2006 Solana Farms broke ground and prepared nearly 7 acres of land that included terracing and drip irrigation for super high density olive production.  This method of olive production has been successfully utilized in Catalonia Spain for over 20 years and has been adopted in numerous orchards in California such as the California Olive Ranch beginning in 1999.  The Spanish varietal Arbequina was chosen because it is self fruiting, very precocious, and has excellent oil quality.  The oil is aromatic, fruity with moderate pungency and bitterness.  Through the following years we have added Arbequina plants and established areas for mission, Manzanilla, and Tuscan variety trees. To date Solana Farms manages 4121 Arbequina trees and 150+ Spanish and Tuscan variety Trees.
